About Us

Walk out onto the wrap-around deck of Talking Trees Lodge, a winter holiday home, and find yourself aloft in 100’ pines and soaring birch and maple trees. Our ski vacation home, a 3 story lodge with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, is nestled on our private glen located in a quiet wooded area of Mansfield View. The vacation home is approx 3 miles north to downtown Stowe shops and restaurants and an 11 minute shortcut to Mountain Rd. which leads to Stowe Mountain Ski Resort, Spruce Peak Ski Resort and the von Trapp Family Ski Touring Resort.

Our Vermont vacation rental is classic Stowe – interiors that glow with warm woods of cherry, pine and maple, the legacy of our father, a German cabinetmaker and craftsman who built the house before Stowe became the destination resort. Now updated and renovated, spacious and comfortable rooms flow from one into the other with every vantage point offering a forested view.

The next generation…us, now occupy the home, but we do not spend the winters in Stowe, so we offer Talking Trees as a seasonal 3-4 month rental to families and friends who will enjoy it a much as we do. Please contact us for availability

First Floor Living Area

The main floor of our Stowe winter ski season rental home includes two comfy sofas centered on the wood burning fireplace, a corner desk, a generous reading chair at the window, a puzzle/card table, a corner bar, and a dining table that seats 8. The Lodge’s winter holiday kitchen has been updated with all new appliances including double ovens and a 5 burner stove and is fully stocked with cooking and baking tools and utensils. A laundry room is located just off the kitchen. The main floor also includes a King Bedroom Suite with a walk-in closet and bath with a tub and shower. Another bath with shower is located at the entry.

Second Floor Bedrooms

A grand staircase leads to the second floor with two queen bedrooms, separated by a bath with a shower. The bedrooms also share a large, walk-in closet with a full length mirror. The rear bedroom includes a TV, and a small alcove with a rocking chair and space for a crib or play area. Both bedrooms feel like you’re sleeping in a treehouse.

Lower Level Family Room & Hot Tub

The lower level is a great getaway, especially for the kids to escape to their own room. It includes a game room with a large TV, foosball table, lots of board games and puzzles, a sleeper sofa, a bath with a large shower. Step outside the glass doors to the 6 person hot tub. The lower level bedroom offers 2 twin beds and double closet.

Secluded Hideaway from the Texas Heat ★★★★

We came to Talking Trees to escape July and August in Texas and successfully accomplished the goal. Talking Trees is a secluded 4 (3 queens) (two twins) bedroom home with an expansive balcony overlooking the forest towards the West. The home is a significant 1.5 mile climb up from the valley floor, which we had not fully appreciated even as we anticipated the climb. If you cycle as we do, be forewarned. Since we tandem we ended up driving the bike down on our ride days and starting from one of the many locations around Stowe. The home has a well equipped kitchen and the cupboard stocks many essential non-perishables to which we added some items as well. The home was comfortable the entire summer but one needs to manage the temperature if it rises much above 85 (leave all windows open in the main and upstairs. The basement entertainment room is always a cool escape. Jacuzzi is set up and works flawlessly, as does the outdoor grill. The garage was handy as a place to store our bikes and do maintenance (as we planned), but only sufficient for parking small cars in. Vans and SUVs outside! Location is advantageous to northern Vermont and cycling as you can avoid the intermittent traffic jams in Stowe and a supermarket is very close. There is a back way AROUND downtown Stow that takes you to the restaurants and stores towards the ski village that we learned about in our first week there. Stowe itself is a wonderful place to frequent, again, just 7 minutes from the home.

The place is perfect for family or friends get together. We had an issue with water pressure but the property management acted promptly and fixed the problem. Date of arrival – September 23, 2022

Really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, well-stocked and close to town. The house was low on laundry detergent, and they got some to us same day. Very friendly staff and check in/check out were a breeze. Water pressure could be better but that’s really the only negative. Date of arrival – September 1, 2022
